Unbound
Hey guys!
So, today, I’ll be sharing with you a poem that I truly connect with. This poem is about a moment of truth or realization. Those times when you want things not to work the way they are working now, when you feel like questioning every single rule placed forth by society, when you realise that the world is far from functional, I was going through those times when I wrote this poem.
What was the realization, you ask? Well, I realised that everything is not what it seems (Did you get reminded of Wizards of The Waverly Place when you read it?).
I realised how unsure I am and how some ideas are just too far to reach and develop. I also realised that even if we tried to change certain aspects of how the society functions, chances are we’ll disrupt the “system” and the result will be chaos.
In a world where most rules tie you down, where all actions are dictated by society and where going against the system is considered “unconventional”, how do you really leave your mark?
I honestly don’t know. But frustration is a form of inspiration. Here is the poem:
Unbound
They warned me
Stay away, don’t go,
I pay no heed
I’m already out the door.

I pace across fields
Surroundings blur away
Beauty becomes darkness
As rainbows turn gray

It’s a wrinkle in time
A spasm of my mind
Sure of nothing but uncertainty,
I’m too deaf and blind.

I’m chasing stars
Clawing at the unattainable
Mind is a battleground
A fort, unsustainable.

Wheels are breaking
System is crashing apart
No warnings, no threats
An end is a new start.

I stand amidst debris
Fragments on the ground
It’s a dystopian world
Yet we’re unbound.
If you guys liked this poem then make sure to like the post. If not then I’m more than welcome to any contructive criticism!
Do you have unattainable ideas, too?
What’s tying you down?
Have you ever felt irritated by the system?
Have you ever wanted to just leave things the way they are and wanted go live on an island, preferably the Maldives, in a beach house with a huge library? Maybe, I’m the only one.

For those of you who don’t know, I have been guest posting here for a while. If you like my post and would like to read more of my poems and stories, here is my blog.
This is amazing. I’ve deviated from the regularly trodden path and it has caused so much emotional repercussions. To come across a poem that put those emotions into words is so unexpected! Thanks for sharing the poem. I needed to read it.

Well, just keep in mind that no matter what, you’re not alone. Even though everyone seems to be doubting you, some actually want you to succeed. And thank you so much for appreciating my work.

That is true. So often, we put our focus on the negative. 🙂

I know, right? Well, now that I’m reading my poem again, it kinda seems heavy and negative. I guess we all have our dark days.🤷♀️

That we do! But dark days make for good writing sometimes. 🙂

Thank you for the poem. I like how you put pictures in between. Makes it real… well, not sure how to put it into words.
To answer your thesis question: Yes, definitely. Society is such an effing prison, there are so many restrictions and “imaginary rules” I call them, i.e. implicit expectations that aren’t law per se, but can be totally punished by your peers and equals. You’d think there would be more love from people I call “peers” and “equals” but that’s the sad truth. People are there to hold you back, primarily. I don’t know if it’s intentional or not. It might be subconscious. Which would make it all the harder to escape and live a free life.
So many times have I thought, “Wait, shouldn’t society function this way?”, when thinking about a concept or social system. Maybe socialism will fix things. But then the taxes will be so high! Ugh. You just can’t win. Taxes are already freaking high. It’s ridiculous.
But seriously, I get a lot of ideas for how to improve society, usually abstract system implementations, but it’s hard to translate into the real world. I have no idea where to start. I guess I would need to write a proposal and bring it to my local mayor, governor, or district representative. Who knows.

There are so many points in your answer that I agree with. To be honest, our peers often tend to agree and flow with how things are. People get accustomed to the system and anything that defies it becomes unnecessary and an obstruction to their comfort. The more I think about the problems in society, the less solutions I can find for them. It’s frustrating, really.
But I guess a letter or proposal to the local arministrator or better, the governor, could raise these issues and make them more serious in the eyes of the government. Who knows, maybe your ideas can bring much needed improvement to the system.

Our free society can be quite repressive, and the #poem “Unbound” was done well. It is quite a life-lesson that we must maintain a society to prosper in, or drift into system failure and abuse. 😉
